Top Wedding Trends for 2017

Top Wedding Trends for 2017

Be in the know.

We’ve made it passed the engagement season hump and we’re moving full steam ahead into wedding planning and wedding season. Once you’ve picked the date and venue, it’s time to move onto the fun stuff like wedding colors, reception details, decor, food, and entertainment. There are a lot of decisions to make, but we're here to help with this year’s top wedding trends.

Color is making a comeback!

Pantone tends to lead the color trends, so it’s not surprising that weddings are taking a direction toward the bright and playful since Pantone introduced Greenery as the color of 2017. Last year’s neutrals are still in use (and are still as gorgeous as ever), but you’ll find things like accessories, florals, and reception decor getting that added pop of color. You can see these neutral and bright combos in the 2017 Spring Color Report.

Breezy, baby.

Comfort is key and breezy silhouettes are the perfect complement to comfort. Take care of your bridesmaids and treat them to the ever-popular flowing silhouettes that are on trend for this year’s wedding season. They will move freely down the aisle and on the dance floor and they’ll look great on just about any body type. Look for materials like chiffon and tulle.

21st Century Planning

As the world becomes more and more digital, the wedding world also becomes more digital. Along with online wedding coordination, budgeting, wedding websites, online tux and suit rentals (*insert shameless plug*), and social media hashtags, we’ll see a trend in 2017 towards Snapchat filters, live-streamed ceremonies and 3D printed cake toppers, place cards, and even wedding bands.

The up and up.

Decor is moving vertically in 2017 with the introduction of dangling decor by means of photo walls, market lights, and photo booth backdrops. Along with the greenery trend in colors, you might also find more hanging flowers and moss walls. Couples are using moss walls as a neutral decor being that it pairs well with other colors. It’s been seen from cake cutting to photo booths backdrops and everywhere in between.

Donut walls?

Remember how we just talked about walls and backdrops? Don’t be surprised if you see really awesome food presentations like donut walls and sundae bars in 2017. It’s not only a great way to show off cool dessert options, but it also creates another interactive station at the reception that will have guests talking long after the wedding has ended.
